Except for my parents no relatives played a significant role in my youth. I grew up with practically no family and up to today the concept is a bit strange to me. Apart from fantasizing about my possible origin, I sometimes imagined what it’d be like to have a busy and very present family. I couldn’t really make a very clear picture of it, but because of its large size it would be a hustle and a bustle with all those fun grandfathers and grandmothers, crazy aunts, eccentric uncles and adventurous cousins. Photo books and relatives of others served as a source of inspiration.
By now I think it’s time for a full-fledged family with an accompanying family album. In my eyes, a family album is the collected evidence of their existence. My Family Album is composed of portraits I’ve made in recent years, complemented with new portraits I made for the occasion.
